Jews were the overwhelming majority of the people who were mass murdered in a chillingly efficient manner. However, Gypsies, homosexuals, and Roman Catholics were also murdered. SIX MILLION murders. No wonder some people do not believe it happened. It is too horrible for words.
You can read about the entire concentration camp system in 'Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.' You will not sleep very well afterwards. Or you can watch 'Judgment at Nuremberg', a great movie about the war crime trials.
BTW, my father only gave me two books to read, 'The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich' and 'Grant Rides South'. He said that 'Grant Rides South' was a great book on how an army operates on its stomach.
Mom gave me a lot of books. Here are my favorites:
The Firm
Hawaii by Mitchner
Exodus by Leon Uris (I have probably misspelled his name.)
Atlas Shrugged
We The Living also by Rand (her best book)
