Land lines have their own low level electricity, so they may work during an earthquake when the normal electricity is out. In order to have this important safety net, you must have a phone that does NOT need to be plugged into an electrical outlet.
Land lines are also a VERY SAFE way to get your banking and credit card information. The bank and credit card company can verify that you are calling from a land line owned by you. The information sent back and forth on the Internet is NOT SECURE. The Internet was not designed to make the flow of information secure.
CARPEL TUNNEL
I had horrible carpel tunnel, which I fixed by doing hand strength exercises with that little thing that looks like a 'V' with a coil spring in the bottom of the 'V'. (History channel said that this may have been invented by Bruce Lee.) I am guessing that putting weight behind the exercise opens up the carpel tunnel. Now I can again type, which is good for me, at least. I got my hand exerciser at WalMart, which had two for less than $5.00.
