How you tell an adult from a juvenile (of any age) is what (s)he does AFTER a mistake is made.
Juveniles deny that a mistake was made, try to cover up the results of the mistake, and never admit that something was a mistake. A juvenile will blame others for a mistake made by him/her.
Adults admit that a mistake was made, try their best to correct the mistake, and apologize to anyone that was injured by their mistake. An adult takes responsibility for a mistake (s)he made.
Adults KNOW that the only thing you can not change is the past. Adults forgive themselves for their mistakes. Adults try their best to not repeat a mistake.
Sometimes it is extremely hard to admit that a mistake was made. It ALWAYS seems easier to just ignore the mistake. But if your mistake harmed other people, it is ALWAYS best to admit the mistake and do your best to rectify whatever problems were caused by your mistake. This is also true for governments, corporations and other organizations.
